Transcendentalism
My brain hurts. I just spent 35 minutes with a student who wanted me to explain a quote from an American transcendentalist and which element of transcendentalism dominates that particular quote "in simple terms." Have you ever read Thoreau? Emerson? Whitman? Are you familiar AT ALL with American transcendentalism? "Simple terms" hardly apply. Ever. Ouch...I need some tylenol. And chocolate. Maybe just chocolate.

I just wish that, for once, these kids would use their own brains instead of ours.
I know!!! At one point I asked the student what his thoughts were on something and he said "You mean, what do I think?" Yes...THINK!!!THINK!!!WHAT DO YOU THINK???
